Spaces and Places
Spaces in your residence hall that are for the community that can be good for studying with friends or by yourself, when they aren’t being used for massive sleepovers.
What are lounges?
Sometimes papers, tests, quizzes, homework, and projects can get a little overwhelming. You can head to this place if you want to confidentially talk to someone about your academic or personal struggles.
What is the counseling and psych center?
This person can help guide you through the research process and is assigned to help this FYE to help acquaint students with library resources.
What is our personal librarian?
The number of levels in the library.
What is 3?
A louder, more open space to get some work done in comfy chairs at the center of campus... and maybe you can pick up the package someone sent you while you’re there.
What is the lower level BCC (LLBCC)?
Times outside of class that a professor has available for questions and personalized time for their students.
What are office hours?
On the main floor of the library, this place gives tutoring opportunities - walk in or by appointment- to students in first year math classes (pre-calc, calc, stats) for free.
What is the math center?
Being a student at Fairfield gives you access to an account with a popular online networking site that has created modules to help you develop skills based on your interests and goals.
What is LinkedIn Learning? (note can be found on your my.Fairfield.edu)
Name an academic building that has designated study spaces and rooms.
What is Dolan and/or Egan? (or an acceptable alternate)
Students who have taken a class before that are hired to help fellow students who have questions about said class material.
What are peer tutors?
Make an appointment, in person or virtually, with this resource if you are just starting, stuck in the middle, or revising a paper and need assistance.
What is the writing center?
This is something that can be found in your my.Fairfield.edu online space that allows you to reserve rooms for studying or for group projects and events.
What is Event Management System (EMS)
Everything is fully charged and it’s a beautiful day, down next to the media center there are benches here that would make a great space for reading or writing - but don’t feed the wildlife!
What is Bellarmine Pond
This is the place to contact if your WiFi isn’t working, you are having trouble with your student email account, or netID.
What is the ITS Help Desk?
This center in the library took the location of academic support and retention and can help you with subjects like anatomy and chemistry.
What is the science center?
The hours of Peet's Coffee & Sambazon located in the library café area.
What is 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Monday-Friday)?
This space is right near The Stag, Sushi Do, and Dunkin making it the perfect place to grab a bite to eat and study all in one!
What is the mezzanine?
Where you would go if you have questions regarding course registration.
What is your academic dean and/or academic advisor?
10 spaces through the library available on a first come first serve basis used for working with peers.
What are collaboratories? (note also 15 individual study rooms that can be reserved for use for up to 2 hours at a time )
The name of the therapy dog for the Egan School who sometimes appears at the library for Wellness Wednesdays.
