A boy sells the family cow at the market in exchange for magic beans. The beans grow into a giant beanstalk that leads up into the sky. He climbs the beanstalk and finds a giant who tries to chase him. Eventually, he manages to get away, and he even steals the giant’s treasure in the process.

A goddess and a god, who were powerful Greek gods, competed to be the protector of a new city. The god of the sea, offered a horse, while the goddess of wisdom, created the useful olive tree. The people chose the tree, naming their city Athens in her honor.

A vain emperor hires a tailor to make him a new suit for a parade. The tailor tricks him by giving him empty air and telling him it’s a suit made of cloth only stupid people can’t see.

Because nobody wants to admit they’re stupid, everyone at the parade pretends they can see the suit and compliments the emperor. Only a child is innocent enough to point out that the emperor isn’t wearing clothes at all.

To stop King Minos from attacking Athens, Athenians sent 14 youths into the maze as sacrifices every nine years. The hero Theseus volunteered to stop the monster, using a string from Princess Ariadne to navigate the maze, kill the monster, and free his people.

A group of mice living in fear of a feline. They decide to tie a bell around the feline's neck to hear it approaching, but the plan fails when no mouse is brave enough to do the job. The story teaches that it is easier to suggest a plan than to carry it out.

After turning most of his palace, his food and wine, and (in some versions of the myth) his beloved daughter to gold, he realizes his gift is actually a curse. Dionysus either takes pity on him and removes the golden touch.
