How do we report a data breach?

If you’ve spotted a data breach please report to your TL and complete the Google Form 


In serious cases it may be necessary to report to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)


Our data protection team then scores the breach to determine the severity of any risk.


Once the incident has been marked by one of the Data Protection team you will receive a slack to let you know the next steps.


You, with support from your TL will need to investigate how the breach happened and ensure the account is now correct going forward. 


Get in touch on #Data_Protection_Advice channel if you need any support! 


We only get 72 hours to report to the ICO, so letting us know straight away is super important

What rights do customers have under the GDPR law?

  • Right to Access: You have the right to go to the librarian (us) and ask: "What books (data) do you have checked out in my name?"

  • Right to Rectification: If the librarian has your address wrong, you have the right to say: "Hey, that's not right, my address is actually this!" and they have to correct it.

  • Right to Erasure ('Right to be Forgotten'): In certain situations (like if you close your account and we don't have a good reason to keep your info), you can say: "I don't want you to keep those books (data) anymore," and we have to delete them.

  • Right to Restriction of Processing: If there's a problem with your account or the info we have, you might say: "Hold off on using that info for now until we sort this out," and we might have to limit how we use it.

What should we do when a customer wants to set up a DD via INK?

If a customer wants to set up a DD via INK, we can do this but we must ensure to DELETE the INK after the details have been received


If a customers sends personal bank details (long card number) ask for this to be deleted and educate the customer on safer sharing to protect them but reassure them they re safe with us.
