But his home teacher patiently taught him the gospel and the importance of church and the Sabbath. When he was 16, President Nelson and his siblings were baptized. His parents eventually became active in the Church again.

Elder Uchtdorf was born on November 6, 1940 in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia, to Karl Albert and Hildegard Opelt Uchtdorf. In 1947 his family became members of the Church in Zwickau, Germany. They fled to Frankfurt/Main in 1952

Ulisses Soares was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on October 2, 1958.
By age 16, this future apostle had obtained a first-class radiotelephone operator's license, which allowed him to operate a commercial radio station’s transmitter, and he found a job in radio as an announcer and an engineer. It was while he was announcing high school basketball games as a college freshman that he met his first wife. Later became the president of BYU

He is half Swedish-half Finnish. His parents emigrated to the United States from Sweden so they could marry in a temple. When he was a teenager, he lived in Sweden for three years with his parents, and he returned again a few years later to serve his full-time mission. He recently spoke about not having hatred for others, referencing his Swedish father and a Russian that moved into their ward.
