A few years ago, the people of Kasai region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo suffered from a conflict between a traditional group of warriors and government forces. As Brother Honoré Mulumba and his family hid in their house, a group of the militia found them and told them to choose to adhere to their militia practices or be killed. Brother Mulumba told them: “I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My family and I have accepted Jesus Christ and have faith in Him. We will remain faithful to our covenants and will accept to die.” Though the militia promised to come back and kill them, the soldiers never did.
