What might happen if we water the branches instead of the tree? AND What might it look like TODAY to water branches?
If we try and water the wrong parts hoping that it will strengthen the roots, then we will disproportionally over water certain branches and they might grow out of their proper ratio, and still starve the roots.
When we water the roots, it puts trust in the trunk and roots to appropriately water the portions and branches that need water and not in exaggerated amount.
Example Today of watering branches- This can make us care too much about the “bishop” instead of the Lord who called the bishop. Or caring too much about ward boundaries instead of lifting where you stand. Or caring too much about the appearance of our clothes in sacrament meeting, instead of caring about the preparation of our hearts.
