This Sunday morning speaker reminded us of the story of the blind man who was healed by Jesus Christ with spit and a handful of dirt, very simple and unlikely ingredients. He invited us to consider, "So what if the answers to our prayers come in plain or convoluted ways? Are we willing to persevere, to keep trying to live Christ’s gospel no matter how much spit and clay it takes? It may not always be clear to us what is being done or why, and from time to time, we will all feel a little like the senior sister who said, “Lord, how about a blessing that isn’t in disguise?”

In Elder Ulisses Soarses talk on this virtue shared these thoughts from the Hannah the mother of Samuel the prophet “Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.” Her song is more than a prayer—it is a self-addressed invitation to act with humility, self-control, and moderation. Hannah reminds us that true spiritual strength is not expressed in impulsive reactions or haughty words but in temperate, thoughtful attitudes aligned with the Lord’s wisdom.

This speaker in the Saturday Evening session stated, "And our new beginning doesn’t just happen once. We tend to think that our baptism is our one shot at a new beginning. It isn’t. We don’t have just one chance. These new beginnings can happen every day! And certainly every week as we eat a small piece of bread and drink a tiny cup of water in remembrance of the gift of our perfect Saviour, who died for the express purpose of giving us as many new beginnings as we need! Jesus gives us as many new beginnings as we need."

In Elder D. Todd Christofferson's talk who shared the story of a bus crash in Africa that took the lives of 15 individuals headed to a YW's meeting. He shared the story of this prophet who's people need only look at the brass the serpent to be healed from the fiery serpents. He shared, "Of course, the counsel “look to God and live” not only has meaning for us in eternity but also makes all the difference in the character and quality of our mortal lives. Remember the words of young Sister Selebeli in Lesotho already mentioned—“Jesus Christ loves us and is with us, even though our hearts hurt.”

Stevenson taught about peacemaker by referencing this special sermon the Savior gave, “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Elder Stevenson stated, "The hearts of today’s rising generation are filled with a testimony of Jesus Christ and a hope for the future. Yet they too ask, “Can I truly become a peacemaker when the world is in commotion, my heart is filled with fear, and peace seems so far away?” The resounding response is once again yes!"
