ABCs of NFTY
This group of high school students at your Temple that you came to this event with. Most belong to the same synagogue and have a funny name for their group that ends in "TY." They often get together for social, educational, religious, cultural, recreational, and social action centered events.
What is a TYG
An awesome person who is in charge of running our amazing, meaningful services, siyyumim, and friendship circle. She attended NFTY in Israel this summer.
Who is Emma Zelkind?
This is the prayer we say before meals. It is the blessing over bread.
What is Hamotzi?
This encompasses all of the youth groups that fall in a certain geographic area.
What is a region?
This occurs at the end of a NFTY event. NFTYites are given time to reflect on their time shared together and thank everyone for their work on the event that has just ended.
What is Friendship Circle?
The name for a youth group for anyone in grade 6-8. Do you know we have an event for this group in March?
What is JYG?
The name for anyone who participates in NFTY
What is a NFTYite?
This is the prayer we say after meals. It has a short form, and a long form.
What is Birkat Hamazon?
A summer program that is run out of several locations across the country and in Israel and Costa Rica where teens can spend various lengths of time doing hands on social justice work.
What is Mitzvah Corps?
Fun weekends in which NFTYites from all different youth groups in a particular region come together to meet other NFTYites, pray, and learn together--all while having a TON of fun.
What is a Kallah/Event?
Grace Lefton is the person that fills this position for our region. Her job is to help write and edit the amazing programs for regional events. She is available to help your TYG do the same!
What is a PVP?
The regional advisor for our region who works with the regional board to plan all events, helps to publicize events, and is available to help your congregation with any teen related issues.
Who is Dori Singer?
This word means spirit and boy do NFTYites have a lot of it! Just take a look at our song sessions, our programs, and of course our services!
What is Ruach?
NFTY's selection of several trips to Israel. These include an Adventure Trip, a Science and Tech trip, and others
What is the NFTY in Israel?
The set of rules and guidelines developed by NFTY that you signed when you came to the event that dictate the boundaries that we agree to stay within.
What is the Brit Kehillah?
Lindsey Marnocha serves this role for our region. Her job is to help make sure you feel welcome and are enjoying events. If you have any issues, don't hesitate to track her down. (she's awesome)
What is an MVP?
This is the nickname for the group of 7 teens who have been elected to serve as the leaders of this region, and plan our regional events.
What is REGBO?
The number of regions that NFTY is divided into that span all across North America
What is 19?
The largest gathering of Reform Jewish teens in the country! Spend 5 incredible days with 1,000 Jewish high school students from all over North America. Attend over 200 interactive workshops on current events and hot topics, hear from well-known speakers, sing and dance during concerts and song sessions, and celebrate Shabbat.

Who is Jenna Kerschner?
This is the parent body of NFTY. It includes all synagogues which define themselves as Reform.
What is the URJ-Union for Reform Judaism.
Netzer stands for Noar Tzioni Reformi (meaning Zionist Reform Youth) and is the international Zionist Reform Youth Movement. NFTY is a member of Netzer.

The place you can go to buy all things NFTY Ohio Valley. Shayna Codd (our ___ Vice President) runs it and it is usually open on the last morning of any regional event.
