What primary trait caused Iblis to be expelled from Heaven?

The primary trait that caused Iblis to be expelled from Heaven was arrogance (or pride, kibr and istikbār).

This arrogance manifested when God commanded the angels and the jinn present in Heaven to prostrate before Adam. While all others obeyed, Iblis refused, leading to his expulsion.

Iblis believed he was superior to Adam.

He directly disobeyed God’s explicit command to prostrate.

Iblis justified his defiance by arguing, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and him from clay". This comparison demonstrated his belief that his composition (fire) was superior to Adam’s (clay).

Unlike Adam, who asked for forgiveness when he erred, Iblis displayed no remorse and instead blamed God for his downfall.
