Sustainable cities or eco-cities are designed with  the environment in mind.  Minimizing waste production and pollution, energy, water and food.

By 2050, 70% of the world's population will be living in cities. The world's food productions systems have already been under stress because of decreasing arable land and climate change. Vertical gardening uses less resources (energy, water, space) to grow and can give you healthier plants and higher yields.
