The purpose of the Safety Activity Checkpoints.
What is to help volunteers plan and carry out activities safely?
A local activity requiring activity approval should be submitted this far in advance.
What is at least one month?
This activity involving ropes, obstacles, and specialized safety equipment does not require council approval, but does require a qualified instructor or facilitator.
What is a challenge course?
This is required for a troop sleepover at a volunteer's house.
What is an activity approval?
This type of amusement park requires council approval.
What is an aquatic or water park?
In the Safety Activity Checkpoints, this approval status means the troop must obtain council approval before confirming plans.
What is “Required”?
These volunteer guidelines must be met for meeting in-person or virtually.
What is two unrelated, registered, background checked adults, one of which must be female?
This outdoor activity that involves riding a motorized vehicle on rough or unpaved terrain is NOT allowed by Girl Scouts.
What is riding all-terrain vehicles?
A troop plans to visit Helen Woodward to complete a badge and this is not required for the activity.
What is activity approval?
This traditional outdoor troop activity requires council approval.
What is camping?
This is required when an adult volunteer directly contacts a youth member (i.e. email, text, etc.)?
What is another supervising adult or parent should be included?
These individuals should be involved in planning activities, including the safety discussion, whenever possible.

This activity, which involves riding on large four legged mammals, requires council approval.
What is horseback riding?
This outdoor activity is NOT allowed by council, whether it is in someone's backyard or another outdoor location.
What is a trampoline?
Besides needing activity approval for having a pool party this other item is required.
What is a lifeguard?
This supervision ratio applies when an activity includes multiple troop levels.
What is the ratio for the youngest troop level?
Each vehicle transporting scouts for an activity should have these items.
What is a first aid kit and the permission and health history form for every passenger?
This is recommended for a Cadette troop who has never been camping together before and wants go camping in Yosemite for a few days.
What is progressively build upon their camping skills? (i.e. start with a local camping experience first)
A troop plans to go geocaching. The leader should plan this in case a participant becomes separated from the group.
What is a communication and regrouping plan?
This is required to have a troop bonfire at the beach.
