  • ESA project/MGISS to detect change over underground assets. User requirements from water and gas companies. Aim is to replace or improve on their current monitoring methods to catch third party infringement before it damages their assets.
  • BDR complete and basic System architecture
  • Settled on planet data after reviewing sentinel and other radar data. Good value under the hectares under management subscription – includes historical data.
  • Reviewing change detection options and algorithms now

Automated interrogation of the LiDAR DSM data within each building footprint was undertaken to determine which roofs are potentially suitable for solar by identifying the roof pitch, aspect, solar radiation and useable area.

  • National Rooftop Solar Calculation using Open Data by counties (cities and rural areas)

  • LIDAR data split by 1,615 tiles (Laurence) and Solar production(David).

  • Individual Building, more than 22 million: Open Data ( Block of buildings) + INSPIRE Cadastral

  • Quality Checked: around 2,000 random buildings within 130 Tiles

  • Results 20,526,025 Suitable solar buildings ; 143,591,659 MW Potential Energy generated; 27,773,764 tonnes CO2 Savings first year; £ 430,278,682,454 Total Benefit in 20 years.

Flood extents across Auckland

New Zealand – Cyclone Gabrielle (Feb 23)

Flood extents across Napier, Hastings & regions in Hawke Bay

Sentinel2 Imagery and good social media coverage

Turkey – Earthquake

Didn’t quite happen

Lots of work identifying impacted areas and data

Italy - Flooding (May 23)

Flood extents across 14 different AOIs

Challenges:

No good imagery, only open source

Large quantity AOI

  • Objective: produce a driveway probability for all 22m buildings in England
  • Why: to facilitate the placement of public EVCPs
  • Inputs: cadastral, building footprints, OSM/OS roads
  • Classifications: off road, high or low
  • Outputs: building footprints, driveway probability per LSOA

What is Driveway Tier 2 LOCATE

  • Delivered our results on time and on schedule without fault (aside from the bad weather!)
  • Achieved the best result on record of 1319 bbl off EIA’s weekly figure
  • Theorised a new product showing the usable capacity of the terminal
  • Developed and passed the product to the sales team for use in negotiations

Provision of a SaaS containing various functions which is a specialized EV network planning platform. Its purpose is to integrate essential datasets and user-friendly features to streamline the strategic deployment of EV chargepoints. LOCATE Char.gy, a customized edition of the platform exclusively tailored for Char.gy, presents three workspace options with different degrees of data granularity.

  • LOCATE National
  • LOCATE Intermediate

Achievements

  • Created over 31,000+ annotations in 3 different states

  • Helped develop an AI via machine learning

  • Successfully identified hail Damage in Ocala, Hurricane damage in Fort Lauderdale, Hurricane Sally in Alabama. Florida – Michael, Ida, Irma

Intro

  • Created building footprints using NOAA Imagery to identify and classify hurricane damage in Florida

  • Split into 5 categories : No Damage, Affected, Minor, Major, Destroyed

Considerations

  • Variations in imagery – artefacts, previous damage, shadow and tree cover

  • Damage classification strategy – cost of damage rather than extent

Solutions

  • Pixel Annotation tool – used to snip raster data to damage extent

  • CVAT – QA review used for machine learning dmg segmentation tool
