What is Religion, Assembly, Press, Petition, and Speech?
Establishes the Legislative Branch.
What is Article I?
The branch that makes the law.
What is the Legislative Branch?
Gives Congress the power to regulate all business activities that cross state lines or effect more than one state or other nations.
What is the Commerce Clause?
A brief submitted by a "friend of the court".
What is amicus curiae?
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
What is Amendment VIII?
Establishes the Executive Branch.
What is Article II?
The branch that enforces the law.
What is the Executive Branch?
The constitutional guarantee that no person or group will be denied the protection under the law that is enjoyed by similar persons or groups.
What is the Equal Protection Clause?
"Let the decision stand"; allowing prior rulings to control a current case.
What is stare decisis?
To be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.
What is Amendment IV?
Establishes the Judicial Branch.
What is Article III?
The branch that interprets the law.
What is the Judicial branch?
Establishes that federal laws, United States Constitution, take precedent over state laws, state constitution.
What is the Supremacy Clause?
"Made more certain" An order by a higher court directing a lower court to send up a case for review.
What is writ of certiorari?
Allows voters to cast direct votes for U.S. senators.
What is Amendment XVII?
The states need to ratify the Constitution.
What is 9/13 states?
The least dangerous branch.
What is the Judicial Branch?
No one shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property under the national government.
What is the Due Process Clause of the 5th Amendment?
Several subordinates, cabinet officers, and committees report directly to the president on different matters.
What is ad hoc structure?
Remove the excessively long period of time a defeated president or member of Congress would continue to serve after their failed bid for reelection.
What is Amendment XX?
The supreme law of the United States of America.
What is the Constitution?
The most powerful branch.
What is the Legislative Branch?
An accused person who flees to another states must be returned to the state in which they allegedly committed the crime.
What is the Extradition Clause?
A criminal statute that punishes actions retroactively, thereby criminalizing conduct that was legal when originally performed.
