The physical parts of a computer that you can touch and feel.
What is hardware?
The adult we need to listen to in the class. When they are speaking we need to take our eyes off of our monitor and pay attention.

The types of laptops that we use in our school.
What are chromebooks?
A website or app that is just right for you. It has fun things to see and do and is appropriate.
What is a 'green' website?
They are made of a special material and come in many different colors. They often have two sides; one is a scrubby side and the other is softer. They are most often used in the kitchen.
What is a sponge?
The programs and apps on our computer that tell the computer what we want it to do. Without this, the hardware wouldn't work.
What is software?
It's what you do if you have a question or comment in class instead of calling out, yelling or interrupting.
What is 'raising your hand'?
It is the page on your computer screen you see when you first log in. It is full of icons.
What is the homescreen?
A website or app that is not appropriate for you. You ended up there by accident and it has words, videos or pictures that are meant for older students or adults.
What is a 'red' website?
Before these were invented, people used a horse and cart to travel long distances. Now, companies such as Ford, Toyota, Honda and Tesla make them.
What is a car (automobile)?
This type of hardware is called a 'touchpad' on a laptop, but on a desktop computer it is named after a rodent.
What is the mouse?
It's the '2-part' secret log in details that you need to get into your computer and go to the internet.
What is your username and password?
The computer network that is across the whole world and it lets you connect to other computers and programs. It is similar to a spider web but it's for computers.
What is the internet?
A person who treats others on the internet unkindly or in a mean way. It is important that we are not one of these.
What is an online bully?
This digital form of technology is found in every home nowadays and allows us to connect to the internet.
What is a computer?
It is when you give a computer step by step instructions for what you want it to do. It is the job of a computer programmer.
What is coding?
They are the small symbols on the homescreen of our computer. You can click on them to take you to programs, games or the internet. We don't ever delete or move these off the main homescreen of our class computers.
What are icons?
It is a software program on Google that teachers use to post assignments and work.
What is Google Classroom?
It's what you should do if you are using a device and you feel yourself getting frustrated, tired, stressed or overwhelmed.
What is 'take a break'?
It was first invented thousands of years ago by the Ancient Egyptians to keep sun off their heads. Now it is used in rainy weather to protect the body (especially the head) from rain.
What is an umbrella?
A software program on your computer that is used mostly by kids. It lets you design games and you can also play games that are created by other people (users).
What is Roblox?
It is the 'one word, one rule' we have in our classroom. We need to show it to our teacher, to our classmates, to ourselves and to the equipment in our class.
What is RESPECT?
They are pages or tabs on the internet that take you to a certain place such as a business or a game.
What is a website?
The name of a person who uses digital technology and connects with others over the internet. Hint: We are all one of these since we all use digital technology.
