(These are not required to be entered into the gradebook, but best-practice is to do so. However, formal formatives should not be calculated in the quarter grade. Students must be provided feedback about their progress towards mastery prior to a summative assessment.)
Teachers may assign long-term assignments, such as reports and projects that are completed outside the classroom, and they may be considered summative assessments, and therefore graded. When used as a summative assessment, homework cumulatively will not be graded more than this percentage of the quarter grade.

Teachers should generally consider homework as practice with an opportunity for feedback and as an opportunity for teachers to learn more about instructional needs. Therefore, homework should generally be considered this type of assessment.

Mr. Wright missed the Algebra 2 test on Monday, because he was absent from school. He was in class the preceding Thursday, the day before the test was administered, so he knew the test was being given. Mr. Wright will be required to take the test on this day.
