She married Meleager - despite not wanting to marry anyone - after he beat her in a foot race. Aphrodite helped Meleager by giving him three of the golden apples of Hesperides, which he threw in front of her, distracting her and winning a foot race: she had said she'd marry anyone who could beat her in a foot race.

He later married a woman named Phaedra, as a result of Aphrodite's jealous machinations, fell into unrequited love with Hippolytus, this man's son from another marriage. Phaedra killed himself, Hippolytus was killed, and this man was killed not long after.
