Who watched sports in ancient greece

In ancient Greece only the men were able to go to the ancient olympics and the women were not able to participate or go to watch the games unless they were in Sparta and even then they had their own thing that they would do. All Greek men that were free to watch the olympics even during war went to the olympics. In Athens the women would not be able to even watch the sport but one time a woman was so content in seeing her son participate that she pretended to be a man so that she could go in. Even the poorest man was able to go to the Olympics like farmers and others.

During the 8th, 7th, and 6th century BC, ancient Greece developed a bunch more sports as part of festivals for gods and goddesses. They had discus, boxing, long jumping, shot put, javelin, wrestling and horseback riding events. The very first Olympic sport was running and it stayed as the only Greek sport from 776 BC to 724 BC. They then came out with all the other things that I listed above and made a start to the nowadays olympics.
