If you discover fire in your home

- Try to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher when everyone is safely out of the house to avoid endangering yourself or others.

- Close the door behind you and cover the bottom of the floor with a blanket or rug to prevent smoke from seeping through.

- Seek help as soon as possible.

- Using a stick or non-metallic object when removing a live electrical wire.

- Cut off gas supply.

- Cover your nose with a wet handkerchief. Open all windows and doors for ventilation.

- Use wet clay, plasticine or Blue Tack to cover the damaged/leaking part of a pipe line.

- Do not switch on the electrical mains or use lighted matches to search for the leakage.

- If the situation is out of control, leave the place immediately.
