Name and explain the law of VC that validates assembling portfolios full of high-risk high-potential profit start-ups instead of start-ups showing safe incremental growth

What is the power law?

The power law is a VC rule that states a tiny fraction of all startup investments will generation nearly all financial returns. Most startups in a portfolio will completely fail, a few will make modest returns, and one or two will make massive successes to pay for the entire fund, generative profit for investors. It's impossible to predict these successful startups, so VC take chances on high-risk companies in hopes that one success will return the entire value of the fund.
