Stamp Act of 1765 - Britain's economy was still struggling after the Seven Year's War, so it created the Stamp Act, which taxed basically anything made from paper. Colonists were now required to buy a stamp to put on most types of documents they used. Newspapers, legal papers, and even playing cards required a stamp.
