Number of players per team
What is 4?
This is the only area where a goalie can use their hands.
What is the penalty area?
All players must wear these protective items during play.
What are shin guards?
A player must leave the field if shown this type of card twice.
What is a yellow card?
This many quarters are played in a U6 game.
What is 4 quarters of 10 minutes each?
In U7–U10 games, this is how long a goalkeeper has to release the ball after gaining possession.
What is 6 seconds?
These two types of cleats are banned due to safety reasons.
What are metal cleats and baseball cleats (with toe cleats)?
This is the result of a deliberate handball, trip, or foul at U7–U8 level.
What is an indirect free kick?
Instead of referees, these people manage the games in U4–U6.
Who are the coaches?
This is the maximum percentage of a game a player can spend as a goalkeeper at U10 and below.
What is 50%?
This kind of kick occurs when the opposing team last touches the ball before it crosses the goal line without a goal being scored.
What is a goal kick?
Coaches or players may not be located here during a game.
What is behind either goal line or closer than 18 yards from a corner?
This type of player position is not allowed in U4–U6 games.
What is a goalkeeper?
This is not allowed when a goalkeeper has possession, and results in an indirect free kick if done.
What is punting or drop-kicking the ball?
A goal may not be scored directly from this type of restart.
What is a throw-in?
This card leads to immediate ejection and suspension from the current and next game.
What is a red card?
Awarded when a player intentionally handles the ball with their hands or arms.
What is a free kick?
This special line at U9–U10 promotes building play from the back by requiring the opposing team to retreat.
What is the Build Out Line?
This violation occurs when an attacking player is nearer to the opponent’s goal than both the ball and the second-last defender at the moment the ball is passed.
What is offside?
The referee may allow play to continue even after a foul if the team keeps possession due to this rule.
