Employees who are hired to work as on-call employees to fill in for a Teacher or Teacher Assistant when they are absent will not be eligible for benefit payments of any kind; this includes payment for holidays, vacation leave, personal leave, or any other time off from work that is normally considered a benefit.

The only exception to this statement is if an on-call employee is scheduled to work in the classroom on a day that class is cancelled due to inclement weather. In that event, the on-call employee will be paid for the scheduled hours.

Should be completed whenever an employee or adult non-employee is involved in an accident, exposure, or injury that is work-related, or that occurs on the premises which could or did result in an injury or illness.  All such incidents must be reported immediately to the Human Resource (HR) Director.  Failure to do so may result in delay or denial of benefits, and will result in disciplinary action.  Employees must report incidents to their supervisor, and adult non-employees must report incidents to the Site Supervisor.

All employees are requested to submit, in writing, notice of intent to leave employment at least two weeks prior to the actual date of resignation. Head Start for Kent County (HS4KC) reserves the right, in situations to be determined by the Human Resource Director, to accept any resignation immediately upon submission.

If a site is closed and employees are asked to report to work, an employee may decide it is too dangerous to travel. In that instance the employee must inform the supervisor and use a personal day or a sick day for the time off to be considered excused.

• If the employee does not have a personal day or sick day available, the time off will be considered leave without pay, unexcused.
