Wet hands with warm running water.

Apply soap and rub hands together to make a soapy lather.

Rub and scrub hands for 20 seconds. Make sure to wash the front and back of hands, between fingers, under nails, wrists, and around any jewelry.

Rinse hands well under warm running water.

Dry your hands thoroughly with a clean paper towel. Turn off the faucet and open the door with a paper towel instead of bare hands.

If there is no source of running water, caregivers and children may clean their hands with wet wipes or hand sanitizer (i.e., outside activities).
