Choose your Favorite

Another great icebreaker that can be used at the start of your meeting is to have your team members answer a couple of personal questions. Keep in mind that these questions should be fun and light, think about your company culture to determine the best questions that can be asked.

1. Who is your favorite villain?
2. What is the best way to eat pizza?
3. What sound or noise do you love?
4. Which skill or talent would you love to have?

What should you bring to an IEP meeting?

Documents you'll want to bring with you might include the IEP student's schedule, data from assessments, online programs, and in-class activities; and a log of any behavioral issues and intervention strategies used to help resolve them. Be prepared to discuss the acc/mod you are providing the student.

Doodle Away

Many say that doodling during the meeting helps people to be more attentive and creative. At the beginning of your meeting, ask your teammates to grab a pen and a piece of paper and doodle away.

When the meeting is coming to an end, have your teammates share their artwork with the rest of the colleagues by showing their papers into the camera.

How should you start the meeting?

Always start off on a positive note when discussing the student.

IEP meetings have a reputation for sometimes being tense or emotional, so it’s important to acknowledge and praise progress when you can. Improvement happens one day at a time, so always acknowledge the little signs of development when you see them

Emoji Check-in

Ask students to draw a picture or find one off the internet of an emoji that describes how they are feeling at that moment. The students can privately share that with you, or choose to share with the whole class.
