Samuel cast himself down from the wall and fled the land back to his own country where he preached to the Lamanites. The Nephites never heard from him again.

He said that the “sword of justice” hung over them and a “heavy destruction" awaited them unless they repented.

They rejected the prophets of the Lord calling them "false" because they testified against them, but lifted up those who came and said that they could do whatever they wanted.

Four years after Samuel prophesied on the wall, signs and wonders began to be fulfilled amongst the people. How did most of the people (Nephites and Lamanites) respond?
They hardened their hearts, believing that "some things may have been guessed right" and that "it is not reasonable that such a being as Christ shall come".
