brief but purposeful references, within a literary text, to a person, place, event, or to another work of literature.
What is dialect?
Dialect is the way a language is used and spoken in a particular location or to a specific group.

What is Ethos?

EX: A text written to encourage support for the protection of the Florida panther features an interview with a renowned biologist who is an expert on endangered species.
What is inductive reasoning?
Using a specific observation to come up with a conclusion
"She's a good swimmer, but she's no Ariel."
This allusion is to the fairy tale (and famous Disney movie) "The Little Mermaid" about a mermaid named Ariel. Referring to someone as "no Ariel" implies that they're not as natural in the water as a mermaid would be.
