These 8 items are set by the Fairfax County Public Schools to be the learning objectives for all English 9 students.
What are course standards?
True or False: Completing late formative work does NOT earn a better grade in SIS, BUT it does insure you will earn a better grade on summative assessments.
What is True?
THIS is critical to success in English 9.
What is attendance?
If students are absent, they are expected to check this learning platform.
What is Schoology?

What is a simile?
TRUE OR FALSE: Quarterly grades are a snapshot in time and will not necessarily have documentation of ALL standards.
What is TRUE?
During first quarter we will focus on 2 main standards that will cover about 10-15 sub standards.
Work that is not turned in will be coded as this in SIS.

Check THIS platform application regularly to be successful in this class.
What is Schoology?
TRUE OR FALSE: Late work will not be accepted after 10 days.
What is FALSE?
Literary device that attributes human characteristics to animals or inanimate objects.
What is personification?
THIS is a culminating learning experience (i.e. projects, presenation, exhibition, test, etc.) that gives students an opportunity to show mastery of a course standard.
What is summative assessment?
Assignments not turned in will automatically be assigned THIS percentage value. (Hint this was shared during TA/Stinger regarding Standards Based Grading).

True or False: Extra credit is offered in this class.

TRUE or FALSE: FCPS has a county-wide policy that requires a student to complete a pre-approved absence form by getting the signature of ALL of their high school teachers prior to the absence.

Each standard in the grade book will weigh THIS at the end of the year.

A student remains responsible for turning in work within deadlines so that they receive THIS kind of feedback.

Individual student progress is achieved through frequent practice of THESE strategies and skills.
What are "reading and writing" (strategies and skills)?
If a student knows work will be turned in late due to special circumstances (absence or other reason), the student must communicate with the teacher regarding THIS.

All formative work (small assignments done for the purpose of practicing) leading up to a summative assessment will be marked as THIS in SIS gradebook.

An assignment may close, but the standard will remain open in order for a student to continue to demonstrate THIS.
