Hidden rule: Show interest in your friends and what they like to talk about by asking questions
Your friend is talking about fortnite, you are not interested but you ask him questions to gather more information
Hidden rule: Even if you are not interested in something, it is nice to ask follow up questions and make comments
Your friend goes to the nurse every day two times a day. You wonder why they go to the nurse so you ask, "why do you always go to the nurse?"
Hidden rule: Be respectful of other people's privacy. This is too personal of a question, they may not want to share why they go to the nurse
Your teacher is talking about addition. You already know everything about addition so you decide to start reading a book
Hidden rules: Follow the group plan & listen to instructions, even if you already know what to do
Your friend is telling you some facts about giraffes. You think one of his facts is wrong and say "that's not right! You are not an expert on giraffes!"
Hidden rule: When you need to correct someone on a fact, do it in a kind and respectful way
You are emailing your teacher and you notice that her name is Natalie. When talking to your teacher, you say "Natalie, are we having group today?"
Hidden rule: Always call your teacher by their last name. It is important to show respect.
You are playing uno and it is your friends turn. He is not paying attention and looking out the window. You remind him "John, your turn".
Hidden Rule: It is okay to remind someone that it is their turn if they don't have their brain in the group
You can't log on to your computer so you sit there and wait for your teacher to come and ask if you need help

You are talking with your friend about dogs. You forgot that you haven't told him about your new video game yet. You wait to tell him once your conversation on dogs seems like it is ending.
Hidden Rule: Keep your conversation connected to the topic. Bring up a different topic during breaks in conversation
You are at a zoom group and you are worried you are going to miss your TV show that will begin before group is over. You ask your teacher "are we almost done? I have a tv show I want to watch"
Hidden rule: Follow the group plan and be flexible
You are playing uno with friends and your one friend keeps looking at her cards and is taking a long time to play a card. You tell her to "hurry up, it's your turn!"
Hidden Rule: Share your thoughts respectfully. Wait patiently for people to have their turn, especially if they look like they are thinking
You are really upset that your team lost during a PE game. You tell the gym teacher that you are never going to their class again
Hidden rule: Even if you are upset, share your thoughts in a respectful manner.
You are talking with your friend about the planets for a school project. You are thinking about aliens so you are talking in an alien voice
Hidden rule: Talk in a normal voice with friends when working on serious things like a project
A student asks you to share some facts you know about Minecraft, you talk for 3 minutes straight, not letting them comment or ask questions on ALL the facts you know about minecraft
Hidden rule: Share conversation space. Shorten facts and only give the most important details. Allow others time to comment and ask questions
You are working on writing for ELA and you decide to write about a person that you aren't friends with anymore and all the reasons why you are not friends
Hidden rule: This is not an appropriate topic for ELA, it might hurt the other person's feelings
You are assigned to a group of students to work on a project. You don't like one of the kids so you say, "I can work with Angela but I don't want to work with Stacy because I don't like her"
Hidden rule: Work to be a part of the group, even when you don't like everyone involved.
Your friend asks you what you did over the weekend. You say "nothing". They keep asking questions but you don't say anything back
Hidden rule: Respond when someone asks you questions.
You tell your friend a joke and he laughs. Then he brings up football practice. You keep talking about the joke because it is so funny and you can't stop laughing.
Hidden Rule: Move on from a joke when your friends show clues that they are over it and want to switch the topic.
You are playing a game at recess where you and your friends are pretending to take your friend Jace to jail. You feel bad for Jace and try really hard to not let them take him to jail. You end up pushing them away and screaming at them. Jace is laughing and looks like he is having fun
Hidden Rule: Stop and Read the room. The kids are just pretending. It is not real life and Jace looks like he is having fun playing so you let him play
