Which prayer can include four Tashahhuds?
Most prayers have either
One tashahhud, like the two-unit Fajr prayer, or
Two tashahhuds, like the other daily prayers.
But sometimes, a follower (masbūq) joins the imam late in Maghrib prayer, which has three units (rakʿahs).
Here’s what happens:
The follower joins the imam during the first tashahhud.
When the imam finishes the prayer, the follower has already done two tashahhuds.
The follower then completes the remaining units of prayer, sitting for the middle tashahhud and then the final tashahhud.
So in total, the follower ends up performing four tashahhuds!
