Bathrooms and closed dorms.

(Campers are frequently at the park even while not attending camp, parents are regularly at the park while their kids are in camp. They often recognize counselors from check in day!)

Where campers should be after quiet time starts.

Their own dorm.

Campers will not be transported in these.

Personal vehicles.

These do not belong on your personal social media profiles.

Photos of campers.

(Unless they are taken from Highland's social media such as Instagram, Flickr etc)

Staff should not consume any of this before or during a shift.

Drugs / alcohol


(these are also not allowed on school property)

The two primary rules for riding in the HTC after-hours.

Don't ride alone, and staff only.

(HTC curfew is 9pm)

This should be present (if reasonably possible) before a staff member enters a Privacy Area.

Another staff member.

These must always be used if they are available.

Seatbelts.

Camper / parent communication should not happen on these.

Personal phones.

This should be worn on check-in days.

Your camp shirt, or another Highland-branded item of clothing.

Where staff should go first for any injuries sustained during riding.

Patrol.

(You are welcome to visit the nurse for bandages or cleaning supplies, but patrol should be your first stop for any care)

These should be at least 6 feet apart when set up for use.

Staff should not communicate with campers in this manner during or after camp.

Private messages of any kind.

(exchanging publicly visible comments, messaging via the parent, or emails with a parent CC'd is acceptable)

Appropriate footwear for the bike park and any sports activities.

Highland's stance on counselors riding while on duty.

Riding on duty is not allowed!

No part of the counselor role requires riding.

Outside of emergencies that risk health and safety, if a staff member must enter a Privacy Area uninvited, they will do this and wait for an audible response.

Announce their intent to enter.

You should do this before leaving camp during your off time.

Let Sam know by email where you are going and when you expect to be back.

(I only want to know in case you do not return at the expected time and I cannot reach you)

In the event you are capturing photos or videos of campers on a personal device, you should:

Send them to your supervisor or transfer them to a highland memory card. Ensure they are then deleted from your device.

How staff medication should be stored at the dorms.

Behind at least one lock.

(We can provide locks and keys for drawers)

Laps with camp groups should only happen this way.

By invitation from the coach.

(Riding time goes by fast. Guests can be distracting for the campers and take away from valuable instruction or even take their focus off of important safety information)
