What is the acetabulum?
Biggest hip flexor.
What is the iliopsoas?
A direct blow to the ASIS or illiac crest.
What is a hip pointer?
Presents with discoloration, muscle group weakness, and pain at the tendon attachment site.

What are the hip flexors?
Three bones that make up up the pelvis
What are the ilium, ischium and pubis?
The three primary muscles that provide hip adduction.
What are adductor brevis, longus, and magnus?
Repetitive activity specifically involving flexion and extension of the hip.
What is bursitis?
Treatment includes rest, ice, compression, and SLOW progressive stretching.
What is a muscle strain?
Adductor brevis, longus, and magnus

What are the hip adductors?
Most common muscle attachment site on the femur.
What is the greater trochanter
Muscle other than the hamstrings that provide hip extension.
What is the Gluteus Maximus?
Sudden forceful contraction of a muscle.
What is a muscle strain or avulsion fracture?
Special tests include FABER and scour test.
What is a hip labral tear?
Gluteus medius
Gluteus minimus
Tensor fasciae latae
What are the hip abductors?
The two structures that provide stability to the hip joint.
What are the labrum and the ligament of the head of the femur?
Muscle that is at the proximal end of the IT band.
What is the tensor fasciae latae?
Congenital excess bone growth of the acetabulum or femur causing pinching of the labrum. Often referred to as Cam or Pincer.
Must be treated with surgery due to the breakdown of the abdominal wall.
What is a hernia?
Superior and inferior gemellis provide this motion.
What is hip external rotation?
Male and female structures that pass through the inguinal canal.
What are the round ligament and the spermatic cord?
Muscle posterior to the sciatic nerve that may cause sciatica symptoms if it becomes too tight.
What is the piriformis?
Overuse with excessive twisting of the pelvis (across the body activity), pregnancy, or trauma.
What is Osteotitis Pubis?
Can either be due to a congenital abnormality or tight muscles. May or may not be painful.
What is snapping hip syndrome?
Gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, piriformis, obturator externus, and obturator internus attach here.
