Following the war this 1786 rebellion was built of veterans who led armed attacks against against Massachusetts courts to stop farm foreclosures. It showed that a central government was necessary to save the United States.

Bore Thomas Jefferson's 6 enslaved children. She was the half sister of Jefferson's late wife. She travelled and moved around with him. Only at the age of 14 years old she gave birth to Jefferson's first enslaved child. Historians are still unsure of their relationship.

This Black scientist sent a letter to Jefferson so he may prove that enslaved people had intelligence. He aimed to prove Jefferson's theory wrong: that Black people lack intellectual thought.

At this battle the British bombed a fort of the same name but the sandy soil and soft palmetto construction of the defenses meant little damage was done. The fort was renamed Fort Moultrie.

John Lay and John Adams cut the French out of this peace negotiation with Great Britain. Britain agreed to  recognize the 13 states as a sovereign nation. The Mississippi River will be the western boundary.

Treaty of Paris

Led by enslaved person of the same name recruited as many as 1,000 participants. The plan was to march on Richmond and kidnap the Governor. The plot was uncovered and enslaved individuals were forced to watch the rebel leaders hang. Leads to free people of color being required to leave Virginia; enslaved people were no longer to meet in groups; enslaved people could not be educated.
