Why was writing first invented?
Because it was used for trading, counting farm animals, counting bags of grain, counting the products that were bought and sold, code of law, for contacts recording the sale of houses or slaves, for literacy texts, to transcribe songs, historical events and instructions, and to make lists of proper nouns and other words.
What were the characteristics of the Athenians and the Spartans in Ancient Greece?
Athenians: The sons of citizens stayed with their mother until age 7. From 8 to 14 years old, an educator, or master, taught them reading, writing, music and arithmetic. Their education included many physical activities, such as wrestling and gymnastics. From 15 to 17 years old, they trained at different spots and learned the art of reasoning, of delivering speeches, of arguing and, finally, of convincing. From 18 to 20 years old, most of the sons of citizens completed their military service. At 20, they became citizens and could take part in public affairs.
Spartans: They were trained as soldiers, didn't learn to read and write, trained from 7 to 30 years old.
