A system for buying and selling stocks and bonds.  A stock is a share in the ownership of a company.  A bond is an agreement to lend money to a company for a certain amount of time.  Companies sell stock to get money they need to grow.  The crash of this resulted in the Great Depression.

The Butler Act made it illegal for any teacher in a public school to teach any theory that denies the story of Devine Creation as taught in the Bible.  (It made it illegal to teach the theory of evolution in public school.). A test case was formed to determine if the law was actually constitutional or not.  John Thomas Scopes was a high school coach who agreed to be arrested and tried for breaking this new law.  The jury found him guilty and fined him $100.
