Talk about Anthony Wayne and I can describe the Northwest Indian War, the Battle of Fallen Timbers, and the Treaty of Greenville.

Anythony Wayne defeats the natives at the Battle of Fallen Timbers to sign the Treaty of Greenville which surrendered most of their land in Ohio. The Northwest Indian War was fought between Americans and natives for control over Northwest territory.

Describe the XYZ Affair

John Adams sends negotiators to France to stop them from destroying more of their ships. They meet up with three French agents  who tell them that France will not negotiate without a bribe. The Americans disagreed which lead to the Quasi-War.

Acts passed by Congress in 1798. Alien Act- Prex allowed to deport non-US citizens considered dangerous. Sedition Act- Permitted imprisonment and fines for criticizing gov’t. They targeted foreigners and opponents of the government.

A treaty between America and England. Negotiated by John Jay. It was significant because it prevented America from going to war.

A treaty between America and Spain. It gave Americans free navigation of the Mississippi River and the right to trade in New Orleans

Describe the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions.

Written secretly by Thomas Jefferson to protect the Acts. States can cancel federal or national laws that they judged to be unconstitutional. The two acts were very unpopular but the peace deal worked out with France in 1800 even though the events weakened Adam and the Federalists.
