Give an example of an open-ended question for a sponsor to gather more information about the sponsor's discipline strategy.
Examples of open-ended questions:
- Explain to me how you respond when your child misbehaves.
- Tell me about the last time your child misbehaved and how you responded.
- Tell me about the consequences you give when your child misbehaves.
- How would you handle behavioral challenges if they arise?
You are working on a home study with a sponsor who had previously sponsored two other children who are no longer in the home. The sponsor says that he was unable to enroll them in school because the school refused to enroll them so close to turning 18. Would you interview any collateral contacts? If so, who?
Interview the two previously sponsored children.

In the home study interview with the sponsor (the child's mother), she begins to cry as she is telling you about her decision to flee DV in her home country to migrate to the U.S. without her child. Give an example of a supportive response/active listening to build rapport.

- It must have been such a difficult decision to leave your child in Guatemala when you migrated.
You are working on a home study for an 8-year-old. The sponsor works long hours away from home. There are not any other adult HHMs in the home. Would you interview any collateral contacts? If so, who?

Give an example of an open-ended question for a sponsor to assess for current DV in the home?
Examples:
- Tell me about how you handle conflicts/disagreements with your partner.
- What are you and your partner's roles and responsibilities in the home?
- Tell me about your support system.
- How does your family decide how you spend your money and how your family manages finances?
You are working on a home study for a child who has a disability and limited verbal communication skills. The child answered HS questions by nodding or shaking their head but could not provide details. The child's proposed sponsor is her aunt who the child had a previous relationship with. The child was living with her mother in her home country. Would you interview any collateral contacts? If so, who?
Child's mother in COO and Facility Case Manager or Clinician to gather more information that was unable to be gathered by the child.
Follow up question: How can you obtain the child's mother's phone number?
Name at least 6 of the relevant referral documents to be reviewed upon HS case acceptance.
