You should say, "Yes, yes" and freeze your body right where you are to listen.
What will happen if you have definitely lost or ruined a book with water/dog chewed it up/baby sister ripped it up, etc.?
Your parents will have to pay $10 to replace it. You will only be allowed to check out 2 books for the rest of the year or until your parents pay.
