A unit within the Customer Experience division that provides a full range of collection management services designed to develop and maintain collections of physical and virtual materials that are current, relevant, and appeal to the tastes of our community.
Library Material Services (LMS)
Stories, rhymes, movement and songs that will engage you and your baby. Develop your baby’s social, motor, and literacy skills while having fun! Intended for children ages 0-18 months and their caregivers. Best for children who are pre-walkers or crawlers.
Baby Storytime
A service that HPL provides to allow US Citizens the ability to apply and travel abroad.
Passports
Get access to state-of-the-art equipment to craft your next project while learning new skills and techniques.
TECHLink
A card that is offered to check out physical items and online resources to HISD, Pasadena ISD, and Alief ISD students.
Learning Link
An essential and diverse division that shares a common goal to provide best practices. This division oversees responsibilities in Private Funds, Endowments and Gifts, Cash Collections, Revenue, Library Fines, Grants, Budget, Purchasing & Procurement, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Audits, and Financial Reporting.
Financial Services
A program where customers can enjoy their favorite classic board games, card games, party games and more at the library.
Retro Games
A service that enables library users to access materials that are not available in their local library system.
Interlibrary Loans
Built in 1926 as Houston's main library. The Julia Ideson Building is now a COH Protected Landmark and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is also a beloved treasure of Houston’s downtown landscape showcasing Houston’s history and architecture.

The unit's services include system-wide technology innovation, planning and support services to library staff, customers, partners, and vendors to deliver innovative technology solutions.
Digital Strategies
A program involving strategy, role-playing, and twenty-sided dice. Participants will engage in long form RPG gaming, building character, cooperation and leadership skills in the process.
Dungeons & Dragons
Service that provides resources for youth, first time college seekers, and adult learners. Services are free and accessible with experienced staff available to ensure all learners are college and career ready.
Cafécollege
A research library that preserves, promotes, and celebrates the rich history and culture of African Americans in Houston, the surrounding region, and the African Diaspora.
African American History Research Center at the Gregory School
Through apps like Libby and Boundless, you can sign up for these digital resources with your library card and access thousands of these digital materials.
Audiobooks and e-books
A unit that plans and coordinates HPL Signature Programs, such as, youth and adult author programs, family festivals, partner programs and cultural programs. Also provides direction, support, resources, and coordinate oversight for a variety of programs for all ages that take place to our HPL locations.
Systemwide Programs
A program that focuses on science, technology, engineering and math.
STEM
These interactive lessons about everyday life will help you meet new friends, ask for directions around Houston, talk to a doctor, and more! All levels and language backgrounds are welcome. Classes are free.
Living English Lessons
Established in 1968, a former home of Houston businessman and statesman William Lockhart Clayton. A nation’s top genealogical research collection for tracing U.S. and immigrant origins.
Family History Research Center at the Clayton Library Campus
An e-resource that connects people who want to learn with experts who love to teach, whether for students who need help with school or adults who need help with job assistance.
Brainfuse
Is made up of Central Library, 5 regional libraries, 27 Neighborhood Libraries, 2 Express Libraries, 3 History Research Centers, Adult Services, Youth Services, Community Engagement & Education, Communications and Library Materials Services (LMS).
Customer Experience
An artistic program that embraces humor, the bizarre, and the freedom of low expectations. Attendees will be provided with an assorted array of craft materials and given one mission: create a disaster-piece. No artistic experience or talent necessary!

A service that looks outside the walls of the library for ways to serve the community.
Outreach
Renamed in 2016, the Plaza honors the incredible life and legacy of the former U.S. first lady and serves as a focal point in Houston to inspire and instill a love for reading.
Barbara Bush Literacy Plaza at the Houston Public Library
Database of U.S businesses; also includes an international business database, a residential white page database, new movers database, and new businesses database, as well as employment and internship listings.
Data Axle Reference Solutions
