Under what circumstances do two days of absence count as one occurrence of absence? 

The Attendance Policy for Hourly, Mileage-Compensated, and Staff Nonexempt Employees notes, work missed for medical reasons (for the employee or the employee's minor children. Missing two consecutive days in a pay week is considered one absence. Subsequent days missed during the same pay week are considered an additional absence up to a maximum of two absences per pay week.

What types of counseling does the EAP provide for all employees and their household? 

 

  • In-the-moment support
  • Consultation and planning with a licensed financial counselor
  • Legal consultation with a local attorney. Employment law issues are excluded
  • Short-term counseling with up to eight no-cost sessions

Note: The EAP provides you and your household free, confidential, in-person, telephonic, and digital well-being resources to help you be proactive with your mental health. The EAP is available for assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

All employees and their household members are eligible for this program even if they have not opted into our benefits plans. Also, employees are allowed to utilize the EAP up to 30-days after separation from the company.

According to Uniform Policy, can drivers wear the navy uniform T-shirt?

Navy uniform T-shirt (city and road driver). This shirt can be worn only while working on the dock, not when facing customers. Drivers must change into a customer-facing uniform shirt prior to leaving the FXFI dock/yard.

How frequently and up to what amount are non-shop employees eligible for shoe reimbursement?  

The Safety Shoes and Required Footwear Policy notes up to $120 per year.

The shoes must meet the following requirements:

• Shoes must have steel toe or non-metallic protections meeting standards for impact and compression 

• The shoe sole must be of an oil resistant/slip resistant material

 • Black or brown shoes are acceptable, unless employee participates in the Uniform Program, in that case, shoes are required to be black.

How long is an employee paid on approved short term Military leave?

Leaves of Absence Policy notes Full-time employees will be paid up to 10 regularly scheduled workdays not to exceed 80 hours per calendar year unless more time is required by law. Part-time employees will be paid 4 hours a day up to 10 regularly scheduled workdays not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year unless more time is required by law.

In order to transfer to another position, employees must be “in good standing”.  What does it mean to be “in good standing”?

The Transfer Policy notes, employees must be in good standing in order to transfer to another position. For purposes of this policy, "good standing" is defined as not having received any of the following within the preceding 6 months, using the date the critical action occurred. This requirement does not apply to moves resulting from changes of operation or other involuntary changes, such as forced demotions for salaried employees. 

• Critical written corrective action, or 

• Critical letter of commitment.
