C & P Accounts
Restricting Dependent Claims
DOUBLE JEOPARDY
100

TRUE OR FALSE:

(aka we ran out of Jeopardy Style Questions)

An Accountholder can only exclusively have an FSA and HRA to set up a Parent Account and a Child Account.

FALSE.

The accountholder can have multiple accounts, not just those two exclusively.

100

When restricted, these "users" can use the account.

Who are the primary Accountholder and the Dependents listed in the Dependents tab.

100

A question prompt was here.

It's gone now.

200

This Account is only used once the Parent Account is exhausted.

What is the Child Account?

200

This "user" can choose to limit who is allowed to use the HRA if they turn on Restrict Dependent Claims.

Who is the employer.

200

These "users" can normally have HRA reimbursements made for them.

(Name a few or all of them!)

What are:

  1. current and former employees
  2. spouses and dependents
  3. certain tax dependents
  4. dependent children under age 27 at tax year-end
  5. spouses or dependents of deceased employees
300

This account is a coordination rule used when an accountholder has multiple benefit accounts.  It determines which account pays first.

What is a Child Account?

300

If a claim for a spouse/dependent should only be allowed if the person is listed in this tab in HWM.

What is the Dependents tab?

300

.....the gnat was here.

It stole the question.

400

This tab in HWM will always show the Child Account.

What is the Organization tab?

400

These two separate questions fit with the broader guidance that plan configuration governs what actually applies for the member, even where IRS or general benefit rules are broader in regards to Restricted Dependent Claims.

What is:

Could this type of person be covered under HRA rules generally?

(Usually yes, spouses/dependents often can be.)

Is this specific person allowed under this employer's HRA setup?

(Only if the plan allows it, and if dependent restriction is enabled, only if they're listed in HWM.)

400

(sorry it's not Jeopardy style!)

Why does the last piece of information in the $500 question for Restricting Dependent Claims matter?

The last part matters because HRA coverage can also vary by plan design--for example, some HRAs are more limited and may only cover certain expense types or premiums.

500
Funds from this Account must be used up first before funds from what account can be pulled from an HRA if the Accountholder has both an FSA and an HRA.  (Note: The HRA is configured as a child account.)

What is the FSA.

500

When reviewing a specific case, the agent should be checking for these three pieces of information in HWM.

What is:

  • whether the HRA plan has Restrict Dependent Claims enabled
  • whether the dependent is listed under the member’s Dependents tab
  • whether the claimed expense otherwise fits the HRA’s configured eligible expense rules
