What does "CANS" stand for? How is it useful?
CANS: Child & Adolescent Strengths and Needs Assessment. It is useful because it tells us the acuity (severity) level of a child's health needs.
What is a psychosocial?
A psychosocial is a comprehensive summary of the child's family, social, emotional, educational, behavioural and trauma history. It is a very helpful document that is completed initially within 30 days of a child entering foster care, and then yearly after that.
