Where can students take HSE courses?

On Central's campus and select community sites.

If a student is interested in HSE community or campus classes where should they start?

 Visit one of the campuses listed to speak with a Career and College Readiness Specialist. Complete a CCR application. Register for placement testing/orientation. After testing is complete, book an advising appointment and an advisor will register student for a class based on levels.

Students who are preparing for a Workforce Certificate Exam and other placement exams can also utilize HSE's test prep courses.

A student has not attended HSE classes for over 90 days. What steps are needed for this returning student to re-enter the program on campus?

What is the purpose of regular progress testing in the HSE program, and what are the consequences if a student fails to meet this requirement?

To gauge student progress and levels - if students dont test they cannot continue with the program

What are some other services that community sites offer to help the student experience?

How will the student find out their HSE level?

Students take an initial placement test to determine their starting level

Explain what an "Attendance Hold" is and under what circumstances it would be placed on a student’s record. 

  • They register and fail to attend within the first 2 weeks of classes.

  • Stop attending for 2 weeks or more without communicating with advisor and instructor.

  • Attend the first two weeks but fail to earn the required minimum.

  • Fail to progress test.

If students will be absent, change availability, or otherwise cannot meet the requirement, it is their responsibility to inform the advisors or their instructors to officially drop the class before they reach 2 weeks of non attendance.
