Explain your understanding of the concept "Australia is a lucky country."

Australia’s human wellbeing today is shaped by a mix of factors, including geography, history, and inherited values. Our large land, natural resources, and small population have helped give Australians a high standard of living. We also inherited democratic values like equality and freedom from Britain, many of which are rooted in biblical ideas of justice and human dignity. These have helped create a society where people can thrive.

But not everyone has shared equally in this wellbeing. Much of the wealth and opportunity modern Australians enjoy has come through the harm done during colonisation—especially the dispossession of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. So while Australia is often called “the lucky country,” that luck has not been fair to everyone.
