Are walking rounds required for ALL memory care staff? How do you do walking rounds?

Yes, ALL memory care staff, EVERY shift need to participate with walking rounds. You will walk room to room check each resident, staff that are leaving will report any concerns to on-coming shift. Complete round sheet and turn into MC Director.

Notify nursing, put it in the fridge, make sure all information is on the label, make sure the lid is tight on the cup and not leaking, and the biohazard bag is completely sealed.

TAKE alert when you are physically at that door. CLEAR alert when you have determined who/what set the alarm off.

When are call lights considered a top priority? Should you stop extra tasks to answer call lights? (such as collecting garbage, delivering packages or appointment reminders)

Where do you sit a resident at a table?

At a place that is ready. This means there is a place mat with all of the settings and it's clean. Do not sit them at dirty spots that are not set up.

Steps for Obtaining a Urine Sample

gather your supplies, go to resident's room, tell resident what is needed, do not leave supplies in room if resident is not giving a sample in that moment. Instruct resident to clean themselves with moist towelette before urinating. There should not be any stool in the urine in the hat in order to use it. You should always use a CLEAN hat or urinal when obtaining a sample. Not a previously used one.

Fill out the paper form and hand in to either Robin or Megan NO LATER THAN the 15th day of the month prior to the month you are requesting days off. PAYLOCITY is NOT the right place to make this request.

Where do walkers go? Fall prevention in the DR

Escort resident to table with them still using their ambulatory assistive device and then once they are seated safely you may take their device to the windows. If you see a resident walking on their own without their device, please immediately get it for them or standby assist them until they are safely seated

TRASH EMPTYING EXPECTATIONS

ALL trash cans in a resident's apt should be emptied every day. Please ask the resident where all their trash cans are so that you can empty them. A new garbage bag should ALWAYS be put into the trash cans if there is visible liquid nastiness left behind. If not, then the bag can be left in there as long as the can is still emptied.

Only when it is on the care plan OR if expressly told to do so by one of the nursing team.

Yes, check MC and ensure that every resident is accounted for

What should you do if there is a spill, or mess, or blood, or other bodily fluids on the floor or carpet?

Immediately clean it up and shampoo. THIS IS NOT ONLY THE JOB OF HOUSEKEEPERS. The shampooer is located in the maintenance bay. There is also one in MC.

Seating Arrangements

Remember that there are different sections in the DR and there is a server for each one. Please seat residents at all tables, even the ones in the far back of the DR. This is especially important so entrance/front of DR doesn't get too congested

What is the appropriate use of gait belts?

Use them during transfers and ALWAYS have one on you at ALL times.
