The person/people who have brought forward the charges against the defendant.
Who is the prosecution/plaintiff?
The technical term used to describe the outcome of the case.
What is the verdict?
The person who, during the trial, attempts to convince the jury that the defendant is guilty of the charges their client has brought forward.
Who is the attorney for the plaintiff/prosecution?
Includes the United States District Course and the United States Court of Appeals.
What are the federal courts?
The prosecutor's response to the defense's closing argument.
What is rebuttal?
The person who takes notes during the trial and helps mark and number all pieces of evidence.
Who is the court clerk?
The period of time in which the jury discusses their opinions on the case.
What is the jury deliberation?
The person who transcribes everything that is said during the trial word-for-word.
Who is the court reporter?
Known as the "Court of Last Resort" for most state appeals.
What is the State Supreme Court?
The two outcomes that are possible at the end of a trial.
What is 'guilty' and 'not guilty'?
The person who oversees the courtroom, and makes decisions on issues that come up as the trial moves forward.
