What is the primary goal of the International Baccalaureate program?

The primary goal of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. The IB aims to cultivate students who are well-rounded individuals, capable of critical thinking and open-mindedness, who understand and respect different cultures and perspectives.

Whay types of tasks are you required to complete in Paper 1 and how many words do you have to write?

Students are typically required to complete a written task, such as a formal essay, a narrative, a personal response, or another type of writing that is appropriate to the text type and context given in the exam prompt. One writing task must be 250–400 words long.

The written tasks in Paper 1 are evaluated based on specific criteria, which typically include: message (the relevance and development of ideas), organization (the logical structure and coherence of the writing), language use (accuracy and variety of grammar and vocabulary), and Conceptual understanding (adherence to the conventions of the text type).

In Paper 2, students might encounter a range of texts or audio materials such as articles, essays, short stories, interviews, speeches, and other authentic or semi-authentic sources. The questions may include multiple-choice, true/false, matching, short-answer, and extended-response formats, assessing students' comprehension and analytical skills.
