What is the difference between a formative assessment and a summative assessment? Give an example of each.

The summative assessment is the end of the unit learning showcase. This is when students get to show you the skills and knowledge they’ve gained. 

The formative assessments take place before, during and after the substance of a unit is taught. Formatives should provide practice for the summative task, and communicating feedback to the student is critical so they can make growth!

Explain the new change to our MYP unit planner template.

In the 'Action: Teaching and Learning Through Inquiry' section, the format has been changed to be a lesson by lesson view, rather than separate sections for the learning experiences, differentiation, and formative work. Each lesson will have a column for Content/Objective/Skill/Standard, Teaching Strategies and Differentiation, Learning Experiences and Activities, and Formative Assessment/Feedback.
