The common misconception of voodoo as a dark, dangerous, or purely evil practice is rooted in stereotypes and misinformation rather than truth, as voodoo is actually a rich spiritual tradition centered on healing, community, and connection with ancestors. Historically, sensationalized depictions in movies and media have reduced it to images of curses and dolls, ignoring its genuine rituals of prayer, music, and herbal medicine that sustain cultural identity and social harmony. Furthermore, vilifying voodoo has often been rooted in perpetuating the ideas of colonialism, where dominant powers portrayed it negatively to suppress African-descended peoples’ traditions.voodoo should not be feared or dismissed, but instead it should be respected and understood as a meaningful spiritual practice.
instead it[Voodoo] should be respected and understood as a meaningful spiritual practice.
Women have had to continuously break barriers throughout history. In China, there is a written language that in its creation was entirely understood and used by women. As a result of Women not being able to be educated, they took matters into their own hands. While this is a specific instance in which women have had to innovate in order to acquire basic needs, it is not the only time they have had to do so. It begs the question whether or not we have come far enough in the push for equality for all human beings. From suffrage to the first women millionaires.. The tide has certainly turned, so we must give society credit in its path to modernity.

Household chores are essential for children because copying the behavior of their parents and siblings is the most effective way for them to learn responsibility. If a child sees that everyone else in the home is contributing to cooking, cleaning, or tidying, then joining in becomes a natural part of family life, so children should always be given household chores. In contrast, children who are excluded from chores grow up with unrealistic expectations, thinking that work is someone else’s burden. Over time, this leaves them unprepared for adulthood, where independence requires the ability to manage one’s own living space.

The federal government has failed to properly help its citizens in times of disaster because FEMA lacks the funding necessary to respond quickly and effectively. When hurricanes, wildfires, or floods strike, the agency is expected to provide shelter, food, and relief, yet limited resources mean victims are often left waiting days or weeks for assistance. This failure is similar to asking firefighters to put out a massive blaze with only a bucket of water; without adequate funding, even the best-trained responders cannot succeed. Thus the government’s neglect in financing FEMA sufficiently has directly harmed citizens, leaving them vulnerable in moments when they most need protection and aid.

We learned that reasons are an argument element, list the two types of reasons that we have learned so far this school year.
Evidence and Hypothetical Reasons.
Dinosaur fossils are often believed to be authentic remnants of prehistoric creatures, but the evidence suggests they are staged and deliberately placed in the ground. Museums and paleontologists present nearly complete skeletons, yet it is improbable that fragile bones could survive intact for millions of years without crumbling to dust. While everyone is entitled to their own belief, they must stop being foolish and realize that it is reasonable to conclude that dinosaur fossils are not natural remnants of history. Furthermore, fossil discoveries almost always occur in carefully controlled digs led by institutions that benefit financially and academically from sensational finds, raising suspicion that these remains are arranged for public display rather than genuinely unearthed. In truth, the neat placement and frequent “discoveries” of dinosaur fossils resemble props in a theater, designed to uphold a narrative rather than reveal reality.

The rubber industry ruined Akron, Ohio, because while it once brought jobs and prosperity, it left behind economic collapse and social decline when the factories closed. For decades, companies like Goodyear and Firestone dominated the city, but their success made Akron dependent on a single industry, leaving no foundation when production was moved overseas. The city should have focused on propping up its communities, however they chose to abandon their citizens and cater to the industrialists who turned their profits towards real estate development. They then sold developments to unemployed citizens to cement them into a lifetime's worth of debt. the rise and fall of the rubber industry did not secure Akron’s future but instead left the city struggling with unemployment, population loss, and a legacy of abandonment. It is this very climate that helped create the legendary band DEVO. So I guess we have to thank the decline of the rubber industry for that!

A taboo is a social or cultural prohibition against certain behaviors, practices, or discussions that are considered unacceptable or improper within a particular community. Mandating taboos in society can foster a stronger sense of shared values and social cohesion, as these cultural norms often serve to maintain order and promote collective identity. If taboos are made mandatory, society can discourage behaviors that are universally seen as harmful or disruptive, reinforcing moral boundaries. While some may argue this infringes on personal freedom, the overall benefit of a more harmonious and morally aligned community should outweigh individual preferences.A harmonious and morally aligned community will reduce conflicts and promote cooperation, leading to a more stable society where individuals can thrive. This stability benefits everyone by creating an environment where safety, trust, and mutual respect are prioritized over personal desires that might cause division.

Heat lightning storms in the summer should be recognized as dangerous, because their appearance is often misleading and encourages people to remain outside when they are at risk. When lightning is seen flashing in the distance without rain or thunder nearby, many assume it is harmless, but in fact the storm system can still produce strikes that travel miles and cause fires, injuries, or even death. Believing these summer storms are safe is like assuming a dog cannot bite simply because it is across the street; the danger still exists, only at a distance. For these reasons, people must treat heat lightning storms with the same caution as any other thunderstorm, understanding that what seems harmless may carry serious risks.

The monetization of everything will ultimately leave us with nothing, because when every aspect of life is given a price tag, its true value disappears. Experiences like friendship, creativity, and even leisure are increasingly turned into commodities, sold back to us in the form of subscriptions, memberships, and services, stripping them of the authenticity they once held. Many argue that all relationships are merely transactional, we are all just one big business, and should not care for one another, however this thinking is purely devoid of anything human and must cease to exist. This process is like carving up a tree to sell each piece individually: once every branch and leaf is gone, nothing remains of the living whole. By reducing all human experiences to transactions, society risks hollowing out its culture and spirit, ending up poorer in meaning even as it chases material profit.

The notion of living without regrets can be problematic because it often encourages a superficial approach to decision-making, where individuals prioritize immediate satisfaction over long-term consequences. This mindset can lead to impulsive actions and missed opportunities for personal growth, as the absence of regret might deter people from reflecting on past experiences and learning from their mistakes, so we must embrace the possibility of regret as it calls for more deliberate and meaningful decision-making. If we were to disregard the value of regret as a tool for self-improvement and accountability, individuals may fail to make thoughtful choices that align with their true values and long-term goals
