What is Kingdom Hearts?
Kingdom Hearts is the source of all light and is sort of like a godlike entity. It looks like a big heart-shaped moon. It coexists with the χ-blade, which is the blade that all Keyblades are forged and based off of. If you unlock Kingdom Hearts, then you will essentially be reborn as something far greater than human and will be able to reshape the universe in your own image. In order to unlock Kingdom Hearts, you need the χ-blade. Way back in the Age of Fairy Tales, everything was full of light provided by Kingdom Hearts. Then, after the Keyblade War, Kingdom Hearts was lost to darkness and the χ-blade was shattered into 7 pieces of light and 13 pieces of darkness.
In order to re-forge the χ-blade, you need a high dimensional clash between light and darkness. This can be done by having a heart of pure light and a heart of pure darkness clash, but the χ-blade this produces isn't quite complete. To do it properly, you need 7 hearts of pure light to clash with 13 hearts of pure darkness.
In KHBBS, Xehanort had Ventus (who has a heart of pure light) and Vanitas (who has a heart of pure darkness) clash, which forged an improper/incomplete χ-blade. When the χ-blade is forged, the original Kingdom Hearts that was lost to darkness reemerges, so the original Kingdom Hearts came out of the darkness it was lost to and appeared in the sky above them. But, it wasn't quite complete, for the same reason the χ-blade wasn't, which is most likely why it was blue while the other Kingdom Heartses are yellow. And then Aqua shattered the χ-blade, causing the original Kingdom Hearts to go back into the darkness it came from.
The Kingdom Hearts in KH1 was an artificial Kingdom Hearts made out of the hearts of worlds. Ansem, Seeker of Darkness made an artificial Kingdom Hearts made out of the hearts of worlds that have fallen to darkness. This artificial Kingdom Hearts was located behind a door called the Door to Darkness. Through the Door to Darkness is the Realm of Darkness. This Kingdom Hearts was located in End of the World behind the Door to Darkness. To clarify what I mean, there's a difference between "behind the door" and "through the door". Through the door is the Realm of Darkness. The Door to Darkness was an entrance to the Realm of Darkness. Behind and around the door is End of the World (a world that was located in the Realm of Light). And behind the door, you could see a giant silhouette of Kingdom Hearts. A big heart shaped moon. Ansem, Seeker of Darkness' artificial Kingdom Hearts was located behind the Door to Darkness in End of the World. This is sort of confusing through text, so here's an image of the silhouette.
The Seven Princesses' hearts have the ability to make the Keyblade of Heart, which has the ability to make the Final Keyhole, which led to Ansem, Seeker of Darkness' artificial Kingdom Hearts, as well as opened the Door to Darkness.
The Kingdom Hearts in KH2 was an artificial Kingdom Hearts made out of the hearts of people. Xemnas made an artificial Kingdom Hearts out of the hearts of people. Just like how Ansem, Seeker of Darkness' artificial Kingdom Hearts was located behind a door, Xemnas' artificial Kingdom Hearts made out of the hearts of people was also located behind a door. Except that door, called the Final Door, just led to a different location in The World That Never Was instead of to the Realm of Darkness like the Door to Darkness did. These doors coexist with these Kingdom Heartses. Think of them as an extension of them. Like a limb.
And the Kingdom Hearts that's in Kingdom Hearts III is the true original Kingdom Hearts, and it's complete this time, unlike in BBS. It's summoned due to the proper complete χ-blade.
