servants
Who was this Ayah of Quran referring to and under what circumstances
r. Allah told the Prophet (ṣ) to ask Imām ʿAlī (ʿa) to stay in the Prophet’s bed that night so that it would still look like someone was in the home, and the enemies wouldn’t realize right away that the Prophet (ṣ) had escaped. Imām ʿAlī (ʿa) was so happy to be able to help that he performed a sajdah of shukr (thankfulness) to Allah when the Prophet (ṣ) asked him if he could spend the night in his home. When Imām ʿAlī (ʿa) was asleep in the Prophet’s bed, the angels Jabrāʾīl and Mīkāʾīl came to him. Jabrāʾīl said, “Congratulations to you, O ʿAlī, son of Abū Ṭālib! Allah is praising you in front of the angels for your sacrifice!”
(SŪRAH AL-INSĀN (AD-DAHR), 76:8-10)
They give food, even though they love it, to the needy, the orphan, and the prisoner, saying, ‘We feed you only for the sake of Allah. We do not want any reward from you nor any thanks. We truly fear from our Lord a grim* and difficult day.’
Who was this ayah revealed for? What was the Ithar these people did?
Imām ʿAlī, Sayyidah Fāṭimah, Imām Ḥasan, and Imām Ḥusayn (peace be upon them).
Giving things we don’t use to those who need them is a good act of charity. But in these verses, Allah praises the Ahl al-Bayt (ʿa) for sacrificing the food that they themselves wanted to eat. In Islam, giving away something that you need in order to help others is called īthār. Allah gives a special reward to those who do īthār.
Surah Maidah Ayah 55
Your guardian (walī) is only Allah, His Messenger, and the faithful who keep up the prayer and give the zakāt while bowing down.
In this Ayah, who does Allah refer to as your Wali? What was the circumstance in which this Ayah was revealed?
Historically, this verse was revealed about Imām ʿAlī (ʿa). A beggar came to the masjid of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). He asked the people who were sitting in the masjid for charity. Everyone ignored the beggar, so he started to complain. Then, Imām ʿAlī (ʿa), who was performing the rukūʿ of a mustaḥab ṣalāh, held out his hand and offered his ring to the man. At this time, Angel Jabrāʾīl came to the Prophet to deliver the verse of the Qurʾān. He then told the Prophet to go to the masjid, where he could congratulate Imām ʿAlī (ʿa) for his act of charity. After this verse was revealed, the Prophet (ṣ) said to the people that “ʿAlī is the master of whomever I am the master of.”

After the death of the Prophet

Surah Insan Ayah 69
O you who have faith! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in charge among you
This Ayah was revealed about who? and what does it means ?. Who is in charge of us and we should obey
Whom to Obey The Qurʾān is a book of guidance. It provides guidance on everything that human beings need to know in order to lead a life of serving Allah and getting closer to Him. One of the most important things human beings need to know is the answer to the question, “Whom does Allah want to be in charge of human beings?” This verse answers this important question for us. In this verse, both the Messenger and the Ūli-l Amr are mentioned along with one verb: “obey.” This means that Allah wants the Ūli-l Amr to be obeyed in the same way as the Messenger of Allah. Therefore, the Ūli-l Amr must be like the Prophet (ṣ)! They have to have incredible knowledge, courage, honesty, and justice. They also have to be Maʿṣūm and never disobey Allah. Allah would never want us to follow someone who would take us down the wrong path! Imām ʿAlī (ʿa) and the Imāms (ʿa) after him were the best of all people after the Prophet, and they are the only people who can be the Ūli-l Amr.
